SMSBL Managers both Spring and Summer:

At our Board meeting last night we discussed and made decisions on concerns with uniforms, smoking, drugs and the snack bar and other items for you.  They are as follows:

1.  No Longer Pre-game Infield Practice

2.  We have a new vendor who is committed to providing us with food and drink options that are substantially better than before.  We ask you to give him an opportunity to succeed.  We also want your feedback.  He had indicated he will have very competitive prices.  So the following applies:

     1.  No outside food or visible coolers with drinks (use common sense)

     2.  BBQ after games is permitted only if you have prior permission from Dennis Viegas

     3.  Beer remains OK

3.  Smoking will be designated only area's that we are putting signs to be clear where smoking will be tolerated. 

4.  SMSBL will not condone drug use.  If one is caught abusing this they will jeopardize there status in the league.

5.  Uniforms-  We have a policy that every manager should be aware of.  It is under forms on the web site. Click the managers button on the homepage.  We understand that as teams change, players are added etc. it is hard with turn around times to get your uniforms done.  However, we expect you to do your best to make your player appear similar while your waiting for your uniforms.  We will expect the following:

    1.  shirt- same (altering shirts, i.e. cutting off sleeves unacceptable)

    2.  pants- same color, piping OK

    3.  socks- same

    4.  caps- same (must be as close as possible)

    5.  belt-  Black or the team color- not multiple colors

    6.  undershirts-  colors should be matching (looks better- i.e. black & green looks bad!!!!!)

Currently we have some teams that are committed to finishing up there uniform situation and were working with them.  But this will not be acceptable, wearing a pro-jersey completely different than the teams uniform, Black uniform when team color is red, etc.  in other words,  a uniform must be similar meaning same color.  We want this done and over with in the next few weeks period.  The policy will be strictly enforced in the Summer, so make plans now!!!!  For now, those that have contacted us to update there situation will have to get the permission of the opposing manager & umpire for that player to play. All new players added to your roster, were going to want an approximate date for completion for the uniform.

7.  Ejections-  We have only one to date.  We thank you for your leadership in keeping your teams in line.  We are aware of some umpiring issues that we are working on. 

8.  Remember Base Coaches are required to wear a batting helmet.

9.  Encourage your players to leave nothing of value in there cars- a recent break in requires your doing your best to keep an eye on the parking lot to help protect our players cars.
