WELCOME TO THE CAPITAL CITY LABOR DAY TOURNAMENT
This email is to all managers attending the Capital City Labor Day Tournament September 2-3-4-5, 2022
Please disseminate this information to your players.
FIRST. Most leagues put on tournaments to raise money for their league. Sacramento Men's Senior Baseball league has always been community oriented and now we are creating this tournament for charity purposes. Each year we will pick a worthy cause to donate our proceeds. This inaugural year we have chosen C.O.P.S.
an organization that supports and helps the spouses and children of Peace Officers that have given the ultimate, their lives, in the line of duty.
For this reason I want to thank you all for joining this inaugural tournament and thus making a contribution to those who have lost a loved one.
Every dollar raised through your entry fees, raffle sales, silent auction, home run derby, BBQ meals, will go to the C.O.P.S. organization. Please encourage all your players to attend the BBQ and purchase raffle tickets as all that money will go to our cause.
MANAGERS. The most important thing you need to do is to pick up your managers gift, baseballs, score book, BBQ tickets, and tournament shirts at tournament headquarters. Army Depot Fields located at 8411 Okinawa St. Sacramento, CA. (easiest found by using Google maps). Alan Van Ness, League President, will be at that location Tuesday August 30 to Friday September 2, from noon till 6 pm. (especially convenient for local teams) Or if you prefer you can pick up your managers package Saturday before your first game. YOU, or your representative, MUST CHECK IN WITH ALAN BEFORE YOUR FIRST GAME. No exceptions. Any questions you have after reading this email will be answered at sign in by Alan.
At this check in have your final roster for Alan to review. Be prepared to settle up fees due. Cash or check only.
In your managers pack will be your BBQ tickets and Tournament Tee shirts. Pass out those to each of your players.
Included will be a score book. Home team is the official score book for each game. Please retain all score sheets till the tournament is over in case there is a question that needs to be resolved.
RULES. In your score book are the standard MSBL rules. These are now the tournament rules with just a couple of tweaks. The 65 division will be 7 inning games. The 55 and the 65 divisions may use shared positions if they wish. All other divisions will use the A/B system if they wish.
A dozen baseball are included, each team will start each game by giving the umpire two baseballs.
UMPIRES. using their best judgment, they have final decisions. If an umpire determines that he/she needs clarification, a call to the tournament director or Alan Van Van Ness may be made. That decision will be final.
SCORES. The winning Manager is responsible for texting the game scores into Headquarters. Text Jason Moore at 916-584-6098
